Meiling's classic cylinder pendant
The Chimney Pendant was designed in the 1950s by the former architect couple John & Eila Meiling. It was originally manufactured by a famous Danish Lighting manufacture from the 50's to the end of the 1980's. John Meiling was a former employee at Alvar Aalto’s architect office in Finland and later worked for the renowned Danish architect Kay Fisker. The Chimney Pendant was the first and only design created by the design duo and reflected their architectural style, which combines modernism and functionalism.

Simple, yet iconic
The Chimney pendant was the first cylinder pendants introduced to the Scandinavian lighting market and it paved the way for future designs that remain popular and frequently used today. Before the 1950s, such simplicity in pendants was rare making the Chimney Pendant a statement interior piece of its time.
The colourful choice
The simplicity of the Chimney Pendant invites an abundance of color choices. For this reason, the lamp became a hit in the Danish lighting market appearing in various spaces, including private homes, schools, cafeterias, companies and even sports halls as ceiling lights. At Greenholt, we wish to keep the originality of the Chimney Pendant by re-introducing its colourful versatility to modern spaces.
